Content management and enterprise search specialist, Jadu, has been selected by Derby City Council to implement web content management systems across schools in the Derby area.

Derby City Council will use the Jadu Galaxies platform to implement a Content Management System (CMS) for any school wishing to join the programme.

Jadu Galaxies was launched in June 2006 to become the only software system that enabled non-technical managers to design, deploy and deliver enterprise web content management systems in minutes. Since its launch, over 100 content management systems have been delivered by local authorities, such as Rossendale Borough Council and commercial organisations such as Messe Frankfurt.

“Derby City Council has always been known for its innovation in technology,” says Suraj Kika, CEO of Jadu. “We are thrilled that Derby has decided to implement Jadu Galaxies for Schools. To know that soon, students in primary and secondary schools in Derby will have their first web publishing experience using Jadu CMS gives real meaning to our mission and our culture as a company.”

Councillor Philip Hickson, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and E-government at Derby City Council, adds, “Jadu demonstrated that they could deliver the service and support necessary to help the Derby City Council pilot using content management in schools. We believe that the internet and modern web publishing technologies will be at the core of education in the future. We want to ensure that schools are well prepared, firstly with their own websites, and also with the concept of online publishing as a learning and communications tool.”

The Council is currently implementing Jadu CMS in five schools in Derby, with plans to roll out sites for all schools in the city in the coming months.
