Award Winning Brews Coming to Long Island: North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ and Wine Festival

LINDENHURST, NY. - The Brewers Association reports that nearly 1,500 U.S microbreweries, brewpubs and regional craft breweries were in operation in 2006. As the craft beer industry continues to grow, so does the quality of regional craft beers. Boasting six award winning breweries, brew houses and brews, the North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ and Wine Festival on August 11th in Jamesport NY, will bring together some of the best names in the industry, offering attendees the chance to sample some of our areas most esteemed brews.

Scheduled to attend this years festival is Lake Placid Pub and Brewery of Lake Placid, NY, winner of the Best Craft Beer Brewery in New York State and Best Craft Beer Brewery in the Hudson Valley in 2005 and 2007. Their Twice Bitten Barleywine won the gold medal in 2007 for the Best Individual Craft Beer in the Hudson Valley, and their Ubu Ale was chosen as one of the world’s top 365 beers by the Beer-A-Day calendar, and will be available for sampling at the festival.

High Point Brewing Company of Butler NJ, America’s first exclusive wheat beer brewery, is another award winner scheduled to attend the North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ and Wine Festival. Their Ramstein Blonde brew won the gold medal for Best Individual Craft Beer in the Hudson Valley in 2001 and 2005.

Blue Point Brewery of Patchogue, NY, is also a scheduled attendee, and will be offering samples of its famous Hoptical Illusion India Pale Ale, which boasts a bronze medal for Best Individual Craft Beer in New York State in 2006. Other local breweries such as John Harvard’s Brew House, winner of the Best Craft Beer Brewery in New York State title in 2002, and the Brooklyn Brewery, which boasts gold and bronze medals for their Blanche de Brooklyn and Brooklyner Weiss Beer’s in 2001, will also be in attendance.
