Not another Landscape Show!

August 04, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Rails End Gallery & Arts Centre has a very special evening in store on Saturday August 18. It begins with the screening of award winning documentary called: MANUAFACTURED LANDSCAPES 7 pm at Northern Lights Performing Arts Pavilion followed by an After Party at the Gallery surrounded by work by local artist, E.G. Blundell.

The feature film is about the work of prominent Canadian artist, Edward Burtynsky and follows the photographer’s work in China, where the humans have altered the landscape in epic proportion. “Everyone should see it!” says David Suzuki.

What makes this event MOST IMPORTANT is that every dollar raised will be doubled by the Ontario Arts Foundation. These funds will be spent exclusively on Art in Education programs throughout the County.

At the After Party at the Gallery there will be short screening of yet another documentary about another Canadian artist- our very own E.G. Blundell. This short film by Tammy Rea (Highlands Media Arts) will refresh the senses and shed light on the creative process of Blundell, a landscaper painter of another stripe. Blundell’s work is gouged from plywood and painted in luscious colour derived from the artist’s intimate knowledge of mined land around Cobalt, Ontario.

Tickets for the event are $20 available in Haliburton: The Heritage House Café, The Old Country House, Rails End Gallery & Arts Centre; West Guilford: The Art Hive; Tory Hill: K(nave) Gallery; Minden: Agnes Jamieson Gallery. For further information visit www.railsendgallery.com or call 705-457-2330
