Final Paradox, the second in The Osgoode Trilogy, wins honorable mention at the Hollywood Book Festival.

August 7, 2007 - On Saturday, July 28th, 2007, the Hollywood Book Festival was held at Barnsdall Art Park in Los Angeles, where Mary E. Martin's second novel, Final Paradox, garnered honorable mention. "It's a very great honor," says Martin, "that out of such a great number of entries, Final Paradox, was recognized.”

Harry Jenkins, the protagonist of The Osgoode Trilogy, is a lawyer, confronted by murder and fraud. But there's a twist. There are plenty of suspense novels which focus on the crime, but The Osgoode Trilogy is much more. The focus is on how such events affect Harry."

The first novel in the trilogy is Conduct in Question. In it, Harry must discover the identity of a serial killer, dubbed the "Florist" by the media. The Florist is a sadist with an artistic flair but who also wishes he could experience compassion. In another plotline, when Harry must avoid being suckered into a money laundering scheme, he finds his own personal answer to the question "How much money is enough?"

In Final Paradox, Harry wonders if love and forgiveness can be found amid fraud and deceit? His elderly client, Norma Dinnick, as she trips back and forth from madness to lucidity, demands he find the lost Elixicorp Shares. Many have died trying to find them.

A Trial of One, the third in the trilogy, will be published in September 2007, where Harry learns "the gathering of ravens presages a disturbance of the natural order." At last, the search for the Elixicorp shares ends in Venice.

The Hollywood Book Festival is held annually to celebrate books worthy of further attention from the Film/TV industry.

"My dream," adds Martin, "is to see The Osgoode Trilogy on the screen. That's the next challenge."
