Horse Show this Weekend at a Chicago Area Racehorse Retirement Charity

August 10 – Barrington, Ill. — Retired Thoroughbred racehorses will take center stage on Saturday, August 11th at a schooling and fun show in the Chicago suburbs. Wood End Farm (www.woodendfarms.org), a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization specializing in the care and retraining of Thoroughbred ex-racehorses, is hosting the show. The public are invited to attend and participate.

Watch Thoroughbreds and a variety of other breeds compete in a complete range of classes, ranging from in-hand judging to hunter, equitation and western pleasure classes. Once the schooling show is over, the competitive games will begin, featuring pole bending, barrel racing, an obstacle course, a trot race, “ride a buck” and even some “horseless” classes for non-riders. Local riders are invited to participate in this fun, no-pressure show. Professional judges will assess each competitor, and ribbons will be awarded in each class. Stalls are for rent and parking for trailers is available. The public is welcome to come enjoy the show meet Wood End’s retired racehorses.
