Battle Bowl proves to be "Better than the Super Bowl"

August 13, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Sports News
Since the Battle Bowl came in the year 2000, it’s been rough for Johnny Richardson Battle Bowl Director and Founder. First, in the year 2000, The San Diego Patriots were going to play the Santa Barbara Condors, but their team didn’t show up. We didn’t know why they did not show up. So that game had to be cancelled. The next game in 2001 with the San Diego Saints had to come to a screeching halt because the owner told me he did want me on the team because of a website complication. But one day as I was sitting in my room reading the paper when an article jumped out at me that said, “Southeast Raiders tryout at Balboa Park at1pm call Derrick Johnson” I couldn’t believe my eyes at what I was seeing! I went to the tryout there was Derrick standing there with his shorts and Southeast Raider T-shirt on. “Oh so you finally found us” he said with a grin. He knew what happened the previous year. 2002 rolled around. I knew I had to make this game work. So I called Derrick the owner of the Southeast Raiders and told about the Battle Bowl game against the team we despised the San Diego Saints. The game was played at Rindome Stadium 7pm against the Saints on the campus of Chula Vista High School and that’s when the first Battle Bowl 1 football game was born. The Raiders had more fans that the Saints did, but the Saints came out the 33-0 victor! Battle Bowl “2” against the San Diego Saints was a lot more exciting. The game ended in a 8-6 loss. Battle Bowl “3” gave the Southeast Raiders another loss this time to the Southern California Steelers 19-0! By the time Battle Bowl “4” came around, the Southeast Raiders made a serious transformation from the Southeast Raiders to the newly formed San Diego Thunder. The San Diego Thunder gave the Southern California Aztecs to a 36-0 thrashing winning their first Battle Bowl game ever! Battle Bowl “5” came crashing down on the Thunder as the Southern California Smash came to town with “REVENGE” in mind as they to roll over the San Diego Thunder with a 12-6 victory leaving the Raiders/Thunder to a 1-4 Battle Bowl record. This year’s Battle Bowl will be no different, but just as exciting as the years past. The past Battle Bowls can bring great memories, but 2007 is going to be much MORE INTENSE! This year Battle Bowl opponent for the San Diego Thunder is the newly formed San Diego Stallions. The SD Stallions is under the guidance of Raphael “Ray” Stewart’s ownership. The San Diego Stallions are a professional developmental football team based out of beautiful San Diego, California. The Stallions organization is here to provide players and coaches an opportunity to develop their athletic ability to be the best they can be as well as discipline their minds to adhere to the highest professional standards and ethics as they work towards taking their football careers to a higher level.

The Stallions are committed to providing a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all family, friends and fans throughout our community. The rivalry has been getting MORE and MORE intense than ever! Players like ex Thunder players Mike Farinas and Scooter Brown are on the Cobras now and they play just as good even better than when they played on the Thunder. Meanwhile on the Thunder, we have the brute strength of the “Thunder Hawgs.” The Thunder “D” is pushing opponents out of the way and sacking quarterbacks like there is no tomorrow! Hey Football Fans across the nation, this game will prove to you that this is “BETTER OF THE SUPER BOWL! “And I do mean what I say” said Johnny Richardson, Director and Founder. Come on down and see what I mean Saturday September 22, 2007 at the historic Balboa Stadium at 1405 Park Blvd. in San Diego, Ca. Tickets are $10.00, $7.00 students, children under 6 free.
