ST. LOUIS (Aug. 19, 2007) — The developers of the Chase Park Plaza have announced plans to construct a high-end, state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center in collaboration with Dallas-based Meritage Healthcare Strategies. The new facility will replace the hotel’s existing fitness center and will reflect both the prestige of The Chase Park Plaza and Meritage’s extensive experience in designing and operating wellness centers. Owners of The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza, hotel guests and public members will all be welcome at the yet-to-be-named facility, slated to open in January 2008.

“This health and fitness center will complement the hotel services and offer another unprecedented amenity for
The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza,” said Marcia Smith Niedringhaus, one of the developers of The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza and the hotel. “Exceeding the expectations of residents and guests is always our goal, and we expect this new facility to offer rejuvenation for the mind, body and spirit.”

The collaboration marks Meritage’s first hotel-based project in the St. Louis area. Denver-based Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative, known for its innovative designs, has been contracted as the project design architect. Additionally, Bonnie Patrick Mattalian of Club & Spa Synergy group and Michele Bell of MPower Solutions will serve as project consultants. The development team plans to share additional details as plans for the look, feel and layout for the center are fleshed out.

Judy Sewing, principal with Meritage Healthcare Strategies, said the new Chase Park Plaza facility would set a new quality standard for the area. “Our vision for the new center is going to be specifically tailored to the Chase Park Plaza and surrounding Central West End community, while reflecting our many years of experience in the health and fitness industry.”

The Chase Park Plaza development team acquired the 20,000-square-foot fitness center from its previous owner/manager earlier this summer. The two parties reached a mutually agreeable solution on the transfer. Terms were not disclosed.
