Neiman has painted only a handful of western themed paintings, making this limited edition truly unique. This work has all of the quintessential Neiman elements: bold, bright colors, loose, painterly brushstrokes and amazing movement. This unique work is painted with Neiman's colorful zeal for painting and bright, bold palette. Neiman has dramatized the excitement on the rodeo floor by painting it with warm colors of rich yellows, flaming orange, and raging reds-further reflecting the intensity of the moment and the untamable beast whose only objective is to throw this cowboy off his back. This warm foreground is juxtaposed against a cool backdrop of the energized audience painted in periwinkle blue, light purple, sky blues, soft greens, and pinks. True to the scene, Neiman has depicted every figure from the audience to the rodeo floor in a cowboy hat.
Over the years LeRoy Neiman has attended many bull riding events in Mexico and the U.S. With his first experience he was captivated by the vibrant sights both in and out of the bull-riding ring. He observed the enormous bulls all corralled together and was transfixed by the bull and the rider each sizing one another up, each determined to be the conqueror.
Neiman places us in the middle of the action packed arena. He captures the ferocious anger and determination of the bull, Little Yellow Jacket, weighing in at a massive one thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds. With intense staccato action, the bull’s hind legs rear up to throw the rider – while Adriano with equal determination and prowess holds firm. Neiman has depicted Adriano focused, steadfast, and balanced—this is not his first time atop a fiery bull. With his left hand Adriano clutches the reins as he steadies himself with his right arm, his legs gripping the bull like a vice, he is not ready to give up his title of World Champion just yet. Neiman translates the thundering intensity of power and skill as it plays out to the pleasure of the spectator packed stadium. You cannot get a more action packed eight seconds than at a Professional Bull Riding Championship event!
Once again LeRoy Neiman’s mesmerizing brush stroke captures the eternal quest for victory. Adriano Moraes, one of the most successful bull riders in history, has won The Professional Bull Riders World Championship three times, most recently in 2006. He’s been named Champion of the National Finals Rodeo and winner of The World Challenge, making him the top bull rider in a competition involving five countries.
Adriano is the only three-time professional World Bull riding champion from the Professional Bull Riders’ tour and one of the most successful bull riders in history. He continues to dazzle the world with his unbelievable bull riding abilities and his faith. Adriano released his autobiographical book in his hometown in Brazil just weeks ago. With the World Finals of Professional Bull Riding just over the horizon this is the perfect time to celebrate the three-time PBR World Championship winner with this limited edition masterwork. Adriano, a living legend and true ambassador to the sport of bull riding, continues to break records at the age of 37.
Not only did Neiman paint the greatest bull rider but he also chose a world champion bull for this composition. Little Yellow Jacket is the only bull in the history of professional bull riding to capture the World Champion Bull title for three years running. He made his debut in professional bull riding in 1999. At the end of his final championship year (2004), Little Yellow Jacket had comprised an astonishing record of being ridden only 11 out of 76 attempts.
