New York City & Online - People well into their 60s and 70s have active sex lives according to a recent report in the New England Journal of Medicine. Yet those who are single because of divorce or bereavement still face many obstacles when it comes to getting back into the dating scene.

The internet is one way to go, but most social networking sites are aimed at much younger users. And that creates a risk for seniors wanting to post their own photos and profiles. What if their kids or grandchildren should see them?!

Furthermore, the few social networking sites aimed specifically at mature subscribers are designed with that more youthful demographic in mind. They’re just not appropriate for the audience – technically or editorially!

Dr. Laurence Barsh recognized the need for a social networking site developed by and for mature individuals, and has created Membership is free, as the business is supported by Google ads. While offers the usual dating possibilities, it also aims to capture those in a committed relationship with offerings like a discussion forum, business and hobby networking opportunities, articles of interest, a blog, and a category called “Perspectives” – a platform for members to post videos.

“ is new to the online social networking scene and we still have a long way to go” said founder Dr. Laurence Barsh, a retired dentist in his 70s “but that provides our early subscribers the opportunity to participate in its development.” Dr. Barsh continued “We encourage feedback and expect to do as much as possible to incorporate suggestions from our members…after all, people our age are pretty wise!” was founded in 2007 to provide a meeting place online for boomers and beyond. The site was developed, is owned and maintained by Dr. Laurence Barsh out of the second bedroom in a New York City apartment.
