Boone Center Receives Wise Giving Alliance Designation

September 4, 2007: ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Boone Center, an organization that provides meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities, was recently designated the Wise Giving Alliance Seal by the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois.

This nationally distinguished designation offers guidance to charitable donors on making informed giving decisions.

“This designation is an illustration of our commitment to those we serve and those who donate to our organization,” Vicki White, Executive Director of the BCI Foundation, said. “We are proud to be recognized as a well deserving charitable organization in the St. Charles area.”

The Better Business Bureau evaluates charitable organizations based on 20 standards of charity accountability. Non-profits, like Boone Center, must meet or exceed all 20 of these standards to be designated the Wise Giving Alliance Seal.

Standards including having a board of directors that provides oversight, spending at least 65 percent of total expenses on program activities and having an accurate annual report available, among other financial, governance, fund raising and measuring effectiveness standards. The Boone Center, also known as BCI, provides meaningful employment opportunities for more than 200 individuals with mental and physical disabilities in St. Charles County.
