Ex-Berkeley Homes Director, Iain Macgregor, to head Young Property

September 08, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Property investment portfolio managers, Young Group, have appointed Iain Macgregor as Managing Director of Young Property, the group’s development arm.

Iain was previously a Board Director at Berkeley Homes, the leading mixed use urban regeneration developer, where he was responsible for delivering a number of high profile schemes. These included a £500 million development at Woolwich Arsenal and a £200 million project at Potters Field near Tower Bridge.

Iain has more than 20 years’ experience of development and operational management as a property developer, consultant and all risk contractor. Before moving to Berkeley Group in 2003, Iain worked for M3 Consulting, during which time he was project manager on behalf of British Land on the £250 million Plantation Place development in the City of London.

As Managing Director of Young Property, Iain will head up the team establishing Young Group’s investment fund.

Created to facilitate investing at the earliest stage of the development process, and to share in the development profit, the new investment fund also offers Young Group’s private clients the opportunity to diversify the holdings within their portfolios.

Neil Young, CEO of Young Group comments: “Iain’s expertise and specialist knowledge of the London market will be invaluable in the set up and delivery of our new investment fund. We’re delighted that he’s joined us and look forward to offering clients an even wider range of both direct and indirect property investment opportunities.”

Young Group is actively seeking development opportunities and is already in discussions regarding a number of sites. The fund will initially seek to develop residential projects in London of approximately 100 private units with a gross development value in the region of £40 million. The development process will be managed in-house by Young Group’s senior management team.

About Young Group

Young Group specialises in providing Property Portfolio Management services to private investors, identifying the best off-plan opportunities in London on their behalf and managing the entire investment process - from sourcing the property through to financing, furnishing and letting.

Young Group is a wealth manager with a focus on property as an asset class. Young Group owns all the property it sells, and also retains a number of properties for its own portfolio. As the principal in every transaction, Young Group does not realise any profits until completion, giving investors 100% confidence that properties will ‘value up’ and that financing will be secured.

Young Group has transacted in excess of 1,500 apartments, with a retail value of £630m. More than 50% of units have been bought by multiple investors. The Group’s lettings division, Young Lettings, has successfully let all investors’ apartments within a week of completion.

Young Group’s iconic Canary Wharf development, The Landmark, has been awarded two Daily Mail Property Awards (2007) in the categories of best high rise development and best high rise architecture. The Landmark East Tower rises to a height of 459 ft, making it one of the tallest residential properties in Europe.

For each property exchange, Young Group donates £50 to Children with Leukaemia, the UK’s leading charity dedicated exclusively to fighting Britain's biggest childhood cancer through pioneering research, new treatment and support of children with Leukaemia and their families, and to Norwood, the Children and Families First charity which provides support to families facing social difficulties.
