Location top of the list when renting property according to report from rentright.co.uk

Rentright.co.uk have conducted a survey of tenants to establish what type of property they rent, how they found their rental property and the service that they received when looking and whilst renting their current rental property.

45% of all respondents stated that location was the most important factor when looking for a rental property in the UK, this was followed by rental price 35%, condition 11% and size of property 7% according to the survey results.

Rentright.co.uk currently has over 4500 member tenants and 1400 member letting agents registered on the website advertising their rental property portfolios.

The surveys aim was to establish how tenants find their rental homes and the problems that they face when searching for property. How did the respondents find their current rental home, 59% of respondents used the internet, 14% were referred by a friend, 9% from viewing the property in the letting agents window and 7.1% used newspapers.

When looking for a rental property online the biggest problems faced were not enough DSS/Housing Benefit Property 42.5% and out of date property information 39.1% of respondents.

“The survey has given a real insight into the problems faced by the tenants when searching for a rental property on the internet. The results give valuable information for letting agents and property professionals into what tenants believe is important when looking for a rental home” comments Chris Courts (Chief Operating Officer – Rentright).

The Rentright survey asked tenants the size of the property they rent in terms of number of bedrooms, over two thirds of all respondents lived in either a 2 bedroom (39%) or 3 bedroom property (35%), whilst 69% of these properties were rented unfurnished compared to 20% furnished.

Rentright also asked the respondents to rate the service that they receive from their current letting agents the majority of respondents found the services average 31%, 21% rated their letting agents service good, 13% thought the services were poor and 11% rated the services provided by their letting agent as bad.
