Pelikan ME unveils TOS initiative for MENA and Levant

Dubai, UAE - Pelikan ME unveiled its Total Office Solutions (TOS) business initiative for 2008-09, for the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Levant territories at GITEX 2007. TOS is a strategic business initiative aimed at increasing Pelikan's market share in the region. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nasser Al Atrash, Vice President Head of Middle East & Africa Business Operations said that “TOS is aimed at further increasing our market share in the equipment and supplies market in the region, and help us consolidate our presence. We have consolidated our businesses under Pelikan and GEHA brands and this gave us the competitiveness and strategic advantage to invest into new growth areas for us like the markets of Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Eastern Europe.”

Pelikan ME is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pelikan International, the holding company of Pelikan Group of companies that own the Pelikan and Geha brand worldwide. The Group specializes in printer consumables, office equipments and the complete range of office supplies. Founded in 1838, Pelikan is globally renowned for its high quality products that range from high-value writing instruments to hobby paints to stationery for use by children, students, parents. teachers, office workers and pen collectors.

Earlier this year in April Pelikan International acquired 90% equity interests in German Hardcopy AG, a specialized manufacturer and distributor of hardcopy related products under the Geha, Emtec. Boeder. I-change trademarks as well as OEM printer supplies and assortments. The acquisition has helped round off the company’s product line and increases its market share. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Nasser Al Atrash, also said that, “Instead of having a fragmented approach to the market it makes sense to integrate and broaden our product line in order to cater to the entire range of customer requirements for office stationery, equipments and other office automation solutions. This would help us give our customers a better and wider choice and consolidated customer services." “Middle East and Africa with the current boom in economy are high-value markets for Pelikan, and we will be investing to develop the market to support the introduction of our highly innovative products such as the user friendly Power Pad Technology in the region. We are continuously investing on R&D with focus on technical and chemical developments." He further asserted that, "With the current trend in office automation being based on integrated solutions and innovative products, Pelikan has decided to adopt a pro-active approach in its product development and marketing strategy. This has led to a seamlessly integrated marketing approach across product lines, and the result is the TOS initiative."

Mr. Nasser Al Atrash said that, "As a part of the TOS initiative we are building strategic tie-ups with retailers and resellers across the region. During the previous year we have laid stress on developing a robust distribution system, with Pelikan products being made available at all major stores across the region." He thanked all the dealers and distributors of Pelikan in the Middle East and Africa for the support and commitment they have shown for the TOS initiative.

The group has identified several initiatives to facilitate its business growth in the region. Among others, the roll out of innovative products and enhancing its distribution, with firm focus on customizing its marketing and customer services to meet the various market needs.
