Edina, MN - Groups of local residents and Realtors have recently been attending educational open houses at the first “Green Built Home” certified remodel project in Edina, located at 5208 Richwood Drive.

Realtor Pam Hendrickson explains, “Green remodeling is a hot topic among Realtors, but most of us don’t understand what it really means. After a presentation by the contractor at Richwood, I now understand what is considered green remodeling, and what is not. Now I can explain it to my clients.”

The contractor, Jake Nau, of Open Air Concepts, specializes in sustainable residential remodeling. “We knew Realtors wanted to know more about sustainable remodeling practices and products,” Nau said. “In fact, my wife and I are writing an online course about Green Remodeling for real estate agents and brokers nationwide. What surprised us, however, was the overwhelming interest from the local public.”

Nichi Hirsch-Kuechle, mother and business owner, recently toured the home at Richwood Drive. “I learned not only the how’s and why’s of green remodeling, but saw examples of how Open Air Concepts’ core values followed through to the finer details of the completed project.”

Nau is becoming a popular guest speaker at local area real estate offices, and has begun on-site educational open houses for the public. The next educational open house at 5208 Richwood Drive is scheduled for Wednesday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m.
