Exhibitor Hurt in Hi-Tech Motorcycle Crash at L.A. Convention Center

National Podcasting System news service September 13, 2007, Los Angeles, CA—The owner and designer of the world’s fastest electric drag bike, was injured today in a crash while demonstrating his two-wheeler in front of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Bill Dubé, who builds the racing, all electric bike, was demonstrating the Killacycle as part of his exhibit at the Wired NextFest event going on at the convention center. During a run outside the building, Dubé lost control of the bike and struck a parked vehicle. He was thrown from the bike. Witnesses report he was bleeding from the head but was talking to para-medics who took Dubé to hospital by ambulance. Dubé was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Dubé of Denver, Colorado, is a scientist and engineer who has a keen interest in electrically powered vehicles. His Killacycle bike bests all gasoline powered motorcycles and other electrically powered bikes. The Killacycle bike goes from 0 – 60 MPH in one second and finishes the quarter-mile drag race in 8.17 seconds.
