Rocket Division Software Releases Free iSCSI Target and Initiator Software for Microsoft Windows

KYIV, Ukraine, — Rocket Division Software announces the release of a free version of their iSCSI target software, StarWind and a free version of the iSCSI Initiator, StarPort. StarWind, which runs on Microsoft Windows, allows any server or workstation (Windows, Linux, UNIX etc) to access centralized storage, providing a cost-effective and easy-to-customize method for implementing and gaining all the benefits of a storage area network (SAN).

The free version of StarWind provides up to 2TB of storage capacity. Customers requiring enhanced features such as snapshots, replication and additional storage capacity can choose between the Standard edition for $395 and the Professional edition for $995. With the addition of the free StarPort iSCSI initiator customers have a single point of support for both the server side storage SAN and the client side iSCSI agent.

An update release of the full version of StarWind and StarPort is also available which includes full support for VMware ESX. Business of all sizes can benefit from a simpler way to perform backups, disaster recovery and simplify storage management. The full version of StarWind is also available as a SDK (software development kit) which is ideal for OEM customers that require a software-based iSCSI target for Microsoft Windows. The SDK provides a full featured iSCSI target API allowing easy customizations for vendors interested in implementing their own iSCSI storage.
