The Society of Will Writers estimates that currently 70% of the UK adult population don’t have a Will or, they have an old Will that does not account for changes that have been made in their lives, in an increasingly complex society it is our role to educate on the benefits having a Will and ensuring that it is up-to-date. ‘Will Awareness Week’ is a National campaign that is being run by The Society of Will Writers to raise awareness of the importance of having a Will. The campaign will take place from the 24th – 29th September 2007.

The campaign will tour 6 cities in 6 days, Lincoln, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Milton Keynes. The aim of the road show will be to raise awareness as to the significance of a Will and its importance to everyone regardless of age, gender or fortune. Trained members from The Society will be on hand in each location to answer any questions or queries people may have with regard to this subject.

Brian Mcmillan, Director General at The Society of Will Writers comments on the event: “This is going to be the first event of its kind that we have tackled and we feel that the issue of having a Will should be at the forefront of people’s minds. We want to raise as much awareness as possible during the 6 days and to help answer as many questions as possible so that the figure of 70% is lessened considerably!”
The Society of Will Writers is a not for profit organisation who’s aim is to help people with regard to the complex situation of writing a Will, to take away the jargon and to make the process as easy as possible. The Society have members all over the UK to help with any questions or queries you may have from how to appoint an executor to the more complex issue of Inheritance Tax.
