Storix Integrates Full-system Recovery with IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager
September 24, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology NewsSan Diego, September 24, 2007—San Diego based, Storix, Inc. launched today the first solution to offer flexible bare-metal recovery and centralized system backup management for TSM on Linux and AIX clients (nodes) and servers. With SBAdmin v6.2 TSM Edition, administrators can configure and manage system backups from a central console. The solution writes backups directly to a TSM server, and administrators can perform operations through a user friendly GUI, a secure web-interface or from the command line. Possibly the biggest distinction is the flexible disaster recovery, or Adaptable System Recovery, capability that enables system restore to the same or dissimilar hardware.
The big innovation in v6.2 TSM Edition is the seamless integration between TSM and the already-popular SBAdmin management interface, according to Manuel Altamirano Storix director of sales and marketing. “TSM users tell us that features such as centralized management and the ability to adapt system backups to fit newer hardware will save them countless hours in labor as well as downtime,” said Altamirano.
Storix, Inc. has the advantage of an extraordinary understanding of IBM systems and storage solutions because, while at IBM, Storix founder Anthony Johnson authored an IBM system backup product for AIX. A combination of thorough understanding and customer suggestions led Storix to recognize an opportunity for an easy-to-use, bare-metal recovery solution within the TSM user environment for Linux and AIX systems.
“While a leader in the storage management space, TSM lacks a full system backup and recovery solution for Linux systems.” said Anthony Johnson Storix, Inc. president. “SBAdmin TSM Edition complements TSM with the most complete solution for system backups and bare-metal recovery of both AIX and Linux systems.”
SBAdmin’s ASR automatically adapts a backup to fit new hardware or allows the system administrator to alter the software storage configuration. The process is so simple even novice users can quickly perform a bare-metal restore onto different hardware. The revolutionary flexibility of ASR greatly reduces downtime during disasters or planned outages by providing: system recovery onto newer or virtual systems; provisioning/cloning of multiple systems; and system storage alteration for improved system availability, recoverability and performance.
SBAdmin v6.2 TSM Edition is available as of September 21, 2007. Storix takes pride in remarkable levels of customer satisfaction and exceptional value. The company offers free support, including 24-hour support for urgent recovery situations. Unlike other backup products, SBAdmin v6.2 licensing does not limit the amount of data being backed-up nor the number of backup devices or storage space. Instead, SBAdmin TSM users purchase only a single license for each client on their network, and any number of TSM servers are supported at no additional charge.
