Thelma M Tinter - Principal Consultant - Thelma has 33 years experience of dealing with UK and international personal tax issues. She spent more than 16 years as a senior Inspector in the Inland Revenue (now HM Revenue and Customs). During that time she dealt with all aspects of personal taxation, PAYE audits and investigations into small businesses and sub-contractors.


Thelma subsequently moved to commerce and worked as Personal Tax Manager for British Airways plc for 11 years and additionally as Manager of their Pay Services department for a further 6 years. During this time she was responsible for negotiating multi-million pound deals with HMRC, handling the PAYE responsibilities and audits across the group of companies and putting in place dozens of PAYE dispensations, many specifically concerning the taxation of flying crews and expatriates. She also managed a portfolio of expatriates and had filing responsibilities in over 90 countries. She has extensive knowledge of expatriate packages, filing regulations home and overseas, the impact of residence on investments and the taxation of seafarers and air crews.

On retiring from British Airways in 2006, Thelma continued to provide tax return and advisory services to a small group of clients and then decided to join a tax consultancy marketed as thetaxback.co.uk, working with former colleagues from commerce, the accountancy profession and HMRC, to advise new and existing clients on personal, business and corporate tax issues both within and outside of the UK.

Daniel J O'Mahony - Principal Consultant - Daniel has 31 years experience of dealing with UK and international tax issues. He spent more than 20 years as a senior Inspector in the Inland Revenue (now HM Revenue and Customs). During that time he dealt with all aspects of personal and business taxation. From 1995-2000 he was one of the two HMRC competent authority specialists, leading on behalf of the UK Inland Revenue in negotiations with major multinational enterprises and overseas Tax Authorities.


Daniel subsequently moved to private practice and spent seven years as a Director in the International Tax Group of Deloitte and Touche in London. During his time at Deloitte he was responsible for tax advisory services, both planning and tax audit defence, for a number of UK FTSE100 multinationals. He provided specialist advice to global companies and individual clients on UK cross border tax issues, transfer pricing, negotiations with Inland Revenue (HMRC) authorities and the effective use of dispute resolution mechanisms. He negotiated many successful settlements for clients against HMRC claims for unpaid tax, interest and penalties. Daniel has advised in these specialist areas across many industry sectors areas for IBM, Reebok, Bloomberg, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Gillette, The Tussauds Group, Haymarket Publishing Group Dorchester Hotels and Daimler Chrysler.


On retiring from Deloitte in 2007, Daniel was approached by former clients to provide consultancy services in relation to ongoing negotiations with HMRC. Daniel then decided to establish a tax consultancy marketed as thetaxbackco.uk, working with former colleagues from Deloitte and HMRC to advise new clients on personal, business and corporate tax issues.

Simon J Bell - Chartered Accountant - Simon is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in practice dealing with UK and international tax issues. After qualifying as an accountant in 1988 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1989, Simon spent 17 years in the corporate tax department of Deloitte in London. Simon advised on all aspects of UK corporate and personal tax to a diverse client base of individuals, owner managed and multinational corporate clients. During his time at Deloitte he advised a number of overseas groups on UK tax issues on investing in the UK including transfer pricing and substantial UK acquisitions. Simon advised a range of groups including AES, Carlson Wagonlit, Drax Group, Hitachi, IDG, OMI Corporation and Saudi Aramco. He also advised a number of owner managers on personal and business tax issues.

In 2005, Simon left Deloitte to set up his own tax consultancy concentrating on providing tax advice and accounting support to individuals and owner managed businesses. His new clients principally include individuals and owner managed businesses. Simon also advises some overseas companies, former clients and other accountancy practices on tax issues. Simon has joined a tax consultancy marketed as thetaxback.co.uk working with former colleagues from Deloitte to advise new clients on personal, business and corporate tax issues.
