Norcross, GA — Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging announces its gold sponsorship at the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G) conference, September 24-27, 2007 at the Victoria Conference Center, Victoria, British Columbia.

Exhibiting in booths 36 and 37, Leica Geosystems is showcasing several solutions implementing Service Oriented Architectures (SOAs) built upon open standards and open source technology, including Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL), Eclipse and Geo Tools. These solutions provide complete Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) interoperability.

In addition, Leica Geosystems is featuring the Beta release of Leica TITAN, a dynamic online solution for sharing geospatial and location-based content in a single, secure environment. Leica Geosystems is also highlighting several enterprise solutions, including RedSpider Suite, Image Web Server (IWS) and Image Integration Framework (IIF). RedSpider Suite, IWS and IIF are new products in Leica Geosystems’ portfolio, technology recently acquired from IONIC and ER Mapper.
“FOSS4G is an important conference, featuring the latest technological advancements in open source software and solutions based on open standards,” said Chris Tucker, President and CEO, IONIC Enterprise. “Showcasing robust solutions that implement SOAs with a powerful blend of commercial and open source technologies demonstrates Leica Geosystems’ commitment to interoperability, ultimately promoting the development of new geo-web applications.”
The annual FOSS4G conference provides a platform for discussing the creation, use and support of open spatial software. FOSS4G 2007 topics include deploying an open source, interoperability between open source and proprietary software and using Mapserver, Mapguide, PostGIS, GRASS, Worldwind and other tools for operations.
