Actor/Comedian Michael Winslow will offer up some non-stop laughs as one of the entertainment headliners for the upcoming Baby Boomer Girlfriends Retreat in Daytona Beach. Winslow, who is best known worldwide for his wacky role as officer Larvelle Jones in the "Police Academy" film series, will share his views of baby boomer women from a male perspective.

The Girlfriends Retreat is scheduled for the weekend of April 18-20, 2008. It is being hosted by BAM Enterprises and baby boomer author Beverly Mahone. “I’m very excited about having Michael Winslow perform! It is so gracious of him to lend his time and talent to entertain this group of blooming boomers. Michael is so talented and I hear he does a hilarious impression of Tina Turner,” says Mahone.

The idea for the Retreat came from Mahone who says the trail-blazing event is being created to offer mature women a total empowerment experience. “After 40, our needs, wants and desires change. This is the weekend where women can throw caution to the wind and do something just for us,” explains the author of Whatever! A Baby Boomer’s Journey Into Middle Age.”

Along with the performance by Michael Winslow, there will be lots of other activities including karaoke and dance contests, a mini-spa, exercise and pole dancing classes as well as interactive workshops on topics such as Shifting your Career Gears; Love & Relationships; Money Matters; Time Management; Doing it “Diva Style” Image Consulting, etc. In addition, an expert panel will discuss Baby Boomers in the New Millennium during the taping of a Town Hall meeting by PBS Station WCEU-TV. But the highlight of the weekend, according to Mahone, will be the Over 40 Girlfriends PA-JAMMING PARTY.

The first 50 women who sign up during the Early Bird Registration (through December 1) will be admitted into the “exclusive” Town Hall meeting, invited to a private celebrity guest reception and receive an autographed copy of Mahone’s new book, which will make its debut at the Retreat.

The theme for the Annual Retreat is “Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!” “That’s the message we’re sending,” contends Mahone, “because many women in my age group are meeting challenges head on and we’re not letting a little thing like menopause and growing older slow us down. And just like the song says, we’re definitely on the move!”
