EBONY-WEDDINGS.COM SUPPORTS LOCAL BRIDAL BUSINESSES IN DEBUT BRIDAL EVENT

September 27th, 2007 – Ebony-Weddings.com, a premiere website that caters to brides of color, will feature local businesses in the tri-state area during its “Ultimate African-American Bridal Show Experience” at the Hilton Hasbrouck Heights Hotel in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey on Sunday, September 30th, from 12 pm - 4:30 pm.

Understanding the importance and influence of African-American spending habits, newlyweds Oscar and Sonya Jones wanted to make things easier for engaged couples by providing a resource catering exclusively to people of color. Since their nuptials, they often reflected on the frustration they experienced while looking for resources during their wedding planning process. After attending a myriad of bridal shows, they often were faced with limited options and access to products and businesses catering exclusively to them. After careful research, and lots of support from family and friends, the idea to produce this special event was born.

The driving force behind this idea is to provide a resource for multi-cultural brides. Research shows that there are couples who want to spend their money using products and services supported by minority businesses, but are having difficulties trying to locate them. “If we can put brides in contact with that unique business, we’re happy.” says co-founder, Sonya Harris-Jones. “Our goal is to promote minority businesses, big and small, who may not have the resources to reach brides looking for their services. Everyone knows someone who can bake, sew or does a little catering on the side. If that person wants broaden their base and reach other people but don’t know how, why not serve as a resource for those individuals?” Others agree as businesses from as far as Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Greens Farm, Connecticut are participants.

Great news for brides, as the affair will provide a one-stop shop for stress-free wedding planning. Great for minority businesses, as the event draws a target audience to their business while providing exposure for their products and/or services.

Ebony-Weddings.com officially launched in May 2006 and 100% minority owned. This is the first show produced by Ebony-Weddings.com, and plans are in the works for additional shows in 2008.
