Susan Maxwell has been selected to be Walk Chairman for South Central Florida Autism Speaks

Susan Maxwell of the Maxwell-Sanders team of Premier Realty Group has been offered and accepted the position of Walk Chairman and will help with recruiting and managing a local Walk Planning Committee, raising awareness within the community about autism, Autism Speaks and the walk and overseeing the aspects of the Walk planning process.

Susan's major responsibilities will include:

- Recruit volunteers for the Walk Planning Committee; Helping to engage, encourage & motivate new and old members of the committee

- Following up with committee members when they have a job to do; oversee & monitor each sub-committee that has been assigned to them (staff can help with the administrative tasks for each sub-committee)

- Encourage sub-committees to take on more of the admin process

- Brainstorming alternate strategies to help comm. members if the falter at their tasks

- Serve as a public spokesperson for the Walk and help office staff to drive the agenda; May be asked to speak at events relating to the Walk

- Along with Autism Speaks staff, communicate regularly with committee members by holding regular Walk committee meetings during the 6 month period leading up to the Walk; utilizing conference calls for meetings when necessary, along with emails

- Communicate regularly with staff & co-chairs through email and telephone, along with bi-monthly meetings with co-chairs and staff (over the phone or in person)

- Leads by example by organizing a large family, organization or business-based team to take part in the Walk with team shirts or hats, etc and by conducting a letter-writing/email campaign to relatives, friends, co-workers and business associates in support of his or her participation in the Walk

- Leads by example by urging personal contacts in the autism community to join in supporting the Walk

- Leads by example by contacting local businesses that you might have a relationship with about their serving as a corporate sponsor of the Walk
