Chester’s fastest growing strategic marketing agency, Intermedia, has been appointed by Dee Valley Water (DVW) to carry out crucial consumer research which will direct the water company’s business plans for the next 25 years. The water supply company operates eight reservoirs, two river abstractions and two groundwater sources to supply approximately 70 million litres per day to over 257,000 customers. Along with all other water utilities in the UK, it is required by industry regulators to lay out the direction they plan to take over the next 25 years.

Identifying consumers’ current and impending priorities are key to DVW’s future strategies. Intermedia will be consulting both domestic and commercial customers to support a business plan which will be submitted to the regulator, Ofwat.

Focus groups, commercial consultations and surveys will be undertaken over the coming weeks to enable Intermedia to examine and understand in depth customer issues, as well as analysis in to the rationales and motivations behind certain customer attitudes.

Nik Stapleton, MD of Intermedia, says: “This is obviously an exciting project to be involved with and our team of strategists and analysts will be working tirelessly to provide the best advice and counsel.”

Bryn Bellis, Managing Director at Dee Valley Water, adds: “This research is incredibly influential and integral to key decisions we shall make. It is crucial that we understand our customers’ needs and understand their attitudes and opinions on customer service, pricing, water quality and resources.”
