ARIZONA GREEN PARTY TO HOST CONGRESSWOMAN CYNTHIA MCKINNEY ON 10/03/2007 Fundraising and campaign events to be held in Tucson and Tempe, AZ

Phoenix, AZ— On Wednesday, October 3, 2007, former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney will be visiting Arizona for two fundraising events to benefit her FEC congressional campaign obligations and the Arizona Green Party statewide ballot access drive.

Cynthia McKinney is a former six term congresswoman from Georgia who introduced Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush in the closing days of her career on Capitol Hill.

McKinney will first visit Tucson, AZ and will be hosted by the Pima County Green Party. From 3:30-5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007, the Pima Greens will be hosting a fundraising reception for McKinney at the First Christian Church, located at Speedway and Euclid. McKinney will speak at the reception. There will also be brief speeches by Tucson City Council and Mayoral Green Party candidates, Beryl Baker and Dave Croteau. In addition, on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007, the Pima Green Party will host a free screening of the 2006 documentary, American Blackout, which features McKinney as she actively investigates the recurring patterns of voter disenfranchisement witnessed during the 2000 and 2004 elections. The film screening will be held at 7:00 pm in the Tucson Room, Student Union Building on the University of Arizona campus. Parking will be available at the 2nd Street garage, at Mountain Avenue.

McKinney will then travel to Tempe, AZ for a fundraising event hosted by the Arizona Green Party. The event will feature a free screening of the 2006 documentary, American Blackout, followed by a discussion with McKinney. The film will be shown at 6:30 pm at Arizona State University in the Education Lecture Hall, Room EDC 117. McKinney will be speaking at 8:00 pm following the film screening. The Education Building is located on Gammage Parkway in Tempe, across the street from the Gammage and east of Mill Avenue and is situated between the Music Building and Farmer Education Building. Parking is free in the Gammage lot after 7 PM.
