October 08, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
Tigerlily’s founder, Maimah Karmo, appears on Good Morning America, with Robin Roberts, along with three other survivors featured in the October 2007 Essence issue. In an intimate interview with Robin Roberts, Maimah and the three other breast cancer survivors featured in the October issue of Essence magazine sat down to discuss breast cancer advocacy, awareness, and the importance of early detection.

Along with the other women, Maimah shared her personal story of empowerment through breast cancer, and discussed the work Tigerlily Foundation is doing to bring an end to breast cancer.

“Robin Roberts was herself, an inspiration to me. I couldn’t believe she taped two shows and then went to chemo, all in the same day. She is the epitome of a survivor.”

The show will air on the October 10, 2007 morning show. “I am so excited about the exposure that we are giving to breast cancer, not just this month, but every day of the year. I look forward to working with women affected with breast cancer, scientists, researchers, educators, the media and women around the world to end this dreaded disease,” Maimah Karmo.

A sought after speaker, published writer, breast cancer and women’s rights advocate, Ms. Karmo is committed to advocating for breast cancer awareness, educating women (and men) around the world about breast cancer; and empowering them to celebrate their lives every day by harnessing their personal power.

Tigerlily Foundation is also participating in several breast health activities and initiatives this month. We are proud to be Ambassadors for a joint initiative between the Komen Foundation and Essence magazine, working to educate African American women about breast cancer and creating dialogue and activism that will lead to a cure.

Ms. Karmo is a published author, motivational speaker, empowerment expert and advocate for women’s issues, particularly breast cancer.
