SeekWellness.com Adds New “Cancer Control Center”, Directed by Dr. Donna Douglas

October 12, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
Concord NH – Wellness Partners, LLC is pleased to announce the launch of a new Cancer Control Center on SeekWellness.com. Directed by Dr. Donna Douglas, the new Center will show visitors simple steps to prevent cancer and to empower them to live well even after a cancer diagnosis. The Cancer Control Center is available at www.seekwellness.com/cancercontrol/ and is organized into three sections:
• Prevention
• Innovative/Integrative Treatments
• Survival

“Nearly one in three Americans will be affected by cancer in his lifetime”, says Dr. Douglas, “but the good news is that it doesn't have to be you.” Dr. Douglas will also be answering visitor questions through a feature called “Ask an Oncologist”, available at www.seekwellness.com/askanoncologist/.

Dr. Douglas, a Johns Hopkins trained oncologist, brings an interesting perspective to the Cancer Control Center. She is a nationally recognized medical scientist, author and speaker. Her research has been cited by such international journals as the Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Nutrition and the American Journal of Pathology. Her work has been the foundation of a cancer vaccine that is now in clinical trials and her independent research into non-toxic and minimally invasive treatments for cancer, diabetes and hypertension continues to empower individuals to live healthier lives. She is also the founder and Director of the Douglas Cancer Institute (DCI), a health care consulting and referral firm in N. Palm Beach, Florida.

“I believe in using what works whether a treatment is considered main stream or alternative. My feeling is”, continues Dr. Douglas, “that alternative/integrative treatments bridge the gap between the two worlds and offer the best of each.”

Dr. Douglas has produced a number of articles for the Cancer Control Center, many of which are focused on good preventive practices including eating well and exercising optimally. According to Douglas, “only 5-8% of cancers have been linked to genetics, while more than 90% can be attributed to lifestyle and environmental influences. This means that lifestyle choices — what you do for a living, where you live and work, and what you eat and drink — are the main factors influencing the development of most cancers.”

The Ask an Oncologist feature at SeekWellness.com will allow visitors to anonymously ask Dr. Douglas a question that she will respond to through an online interface. Her answer will be emailed to the visitor (maintaining anonymity) and the question and answer will be deposited into a searchable database. The resulting resource will be accessible online and will allow other visitors to find and read what others have asked before asking their own question. Dr. Douglas will not offer medical advice of any kind but will give people leads to relevant and helpful information that should help them plan their own preventive or cancer treatment issues.

Dr. Douglas is dedicated to writing about the most current research on new treatments and putting this information in the hands of ordinary Americans. The Cancer Control Center includes this information as well as articles about coping with treatment side effects and how to be an empowered patient. When she is not writing for SeekWellness.com, she brings her message of hope and healing to corporations, conferences, hospitals, churches, media and civic settings and her private practice. Dr. Douglas is the author of Hope on the Horizon, providing new solutions for America's health challenges.
