Is it a Sign or is it Art? Does the Sign Ordinance Apply? For Hotels, Resorts, Casinos, Banks, and Stores

A resort on the Oregon Coast needed an eye catcher. A large sign was out of the question. What other options did they have?

Over Father's Day weekend, a giant chainsaw carved sea captain arrived on their property http://www.bearinabox.com. The sea captain installation drew crowds and became the talk of the town. The sea captain will continue to draw crowds for years to come, as it is unique and very large.

According to the resort owner, "We had a smaller sea captain and it drew so many people that we knew we wanted a giant one to really attract attention. We have been amazed at the number of times our property has been photographed, as the sea captain's backdrop is our resort. And, surprisingly, it wasn't very expensive."

The carving was made by the George Kenny School of Chainsaw Carving near Seattle. They have created hundreds of monument sized carvings over the years. The giant carvings have been chainsaw carved and delivered to hotels, motels, resorts, banks, casinos, and stores.

Interested parties can call the school at 360-710-5250 or check the website, www.bearinabox.com.

Thank you,

Frank Kenny
