te! Music opens Online Royalty-Free Music Licensing Department

March 08, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Media News
It has long been the intention of Tomas to offer tracks contained in the te! Music catalogue to visual, theatrical and event producers through the te! website, however, the methods never seemed right. "Requests received in the past were handled on an individual basis by a staff member", states Tomas, "and that proved to be labor intensive with all the faxing paperwork back and forth." Tomas goes on to state, "We are a small office, and since te! is an internet based entertainment company, I had to find a way to allow anyone to license a track effortlessly still protect te!'s interests." Tomas soon realized that he already had the resources to do so.

By combining the security and online payment processing power of PayPal, with the file safety and instant download capabilities of Payloadz, te! is now able to license music to visual, theatrical and event producers with just a few clicks of the mouse.

"Instead of having people sign and fax back a contract, they must now check off that they have read and understand the licensing agreement. I decided to treat the agreement the same way that most websites and software companies treat their terms of service. By making the purchase, you agree to the terms. If you violate the terms you are held legally responsible.”

KISS Licensing

“I studied a lot of pre-existing websites that license music directly and I decided that I was not interested in emulating them,” states Tomas. “I did not want a member based website. You know the kind where you have to sign up with a username and password. I want people to get what they want as quickly as they need. Producers and directors are very busy people and I want my licensing process to respect that."

In keeping with the KISS (keep it simply simple) philosophy, licensing music from te! could take the end user no more than 5 minutes from song choice to song download. Licensees visit the te! Music Licensing Department located at the te! website – www.tomasianent.com. The licensee makes their selection and then follows the link that allows them to license the track. After payment is processed, the licensee is sent an email which will give immediate download access to the track. The licensee can also save the email for download at another time or have a CD mailed for an additional $5.00.

Licensing Specifics

All tracks licensed by te! are 44.100khz, 16bit stereo, mp3 tracks encoded at a cbr (constant bit rate) of 320kbps for superior quality. Vocal tracks also contain instrumental versions of the song at no additional charge.

All tracks are licensed for $100.00 per track. This is a non-exclusive, one project, one person, royalty-free license held in perpetuity. That means that each track is licensed to one person (or group of persons) to use in one project. They can not use the song for any other project or transfer its use to another person or group. There are no royalties due beyond the $100.00 licensing fee. And, once synched with a project, the track may be used for the life of the project.
