San Francisco, Ca. (Bandwidth Music and Technology Conference) August 18th-19th—

With over thirty-five years of professional expertise in the music industry, Bruce Robb offered his views on technology and it's impact on the music industry (good and bad) from his perspective as an accomplished producer and music supervisor in a "Rock of the Ages" panel discussion held on Saturday afternoon.

Bruce Robb, accompanied by such industry pioneers as Chris Anderson, Thomas Dolby, and Terry McBride conversed on the current views of technology today, and how it is affecting their work in the industry. Veterans contributed their views on what specific technology in the industry is currently working, and what is definitely not. The panel also discussed the future of technological innovation, and upcoming trends.

"This industry is, and always will be about the music," said Robb. "In large studios today, engineers are working with technologies that are responsible for creating the culture of disposable artists we now see dominating the market. They are literally capable of making any artist sound good, through manipulation. I believe this is a backwards approach to making effective music. In the near future, I see a need for studios to return to the process of true musicianship. We should be smart when deciding how to use technology. Very soon, we will see a return to an emphasis of talent in the studio. Everyone at Cherokee Studios is committed to innovating the current industry through this smart approach to using technology."

The two-day conference, held at the infamous Regency in San Francisco, explored issues of interest to the music and technology communities, with a particular focus on the evolving musical experience. Along with the discussion topics of technology, marketing, fan behavior, trends and future forecasts. Robb and the other panelists examined the ways people discover, purchase, interact with, and are exposed to music. Bruce Robb, and other music professionals particularly interested in the continuing evolution of the music technology industry attended the conference.
