'Spring ahead, Fall back' and other mnemonic devices.
Wintertime is coming! Should the clock go forward or backward? This mnemonic device tells us how to adjust the clock on the 29th October. In the fall (autumn) the clock will be set back an hour. This and many other mnemonic devices can be found on www.mnemonic-device.com.

DST
The concept of daylight saving time (DST) was first seriously proposed by William Willett in the "Waste of Daylight", published in 1907, but he was unable to get the British government to adopt it, despite considerable lobbying.

What are mnemonics?
Mnemonics are usefull aids to memory. It helps to remember (difficult) things.
This can be achieved using acronyms, or rhymes. Like: 'Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain'. Where the initial letters give the order of the colours in a rainbow (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet)

About www.mnemonic-device.com:
The project www.mnemonic-device.com has been set up by us for educational purposes and general knowledge conservation. We wanted to create a place on the web where students, pupils, and teachers all can benefit from each others mnemonics. All mnemonics are neatly categorized and there's an user friendly search engine. Needless to say that visitors can add their own mnemonics!

We have the same kind of service for dutch mnemonics (www.ezelsbrug.nl), which are called ezelsbruggen. With 400 visitors a day in this small dutch market, it looks interesting to go international. We plan on making an international version for all languages. To set this up a commercial partner is needed.
