(December 1, 2017; Yountville, Calif.)-Remi Cohen, Vice President and General Manager of Lede Family Wines, announced today that the winery is donating $69,000 to disaster relief efforts following the recent devastating wildfires. The donation is the result of owner Cliff Lede's personal commitment to contribute 5% of all winery sales, both consumer and wholesale, for a one-month period to the Napa Valley Community Foundation's Disaster Relief Fund. Cal Fire reports that the fires ravaged 160,000 acres across Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties, destroying over 8,400 residential and commercial structures. Cliff Lede Vineyards was among them, sustaining damage to one small vineyard and the loss of a barn. The winery's prized Poetry Vineyard, and the small luxury hotel that sits above it, Poetry Inn, were severely threatened during the blaze. "Just as the fires approached, the Los Angeles Fire Department Strike Team 35 appeared, and kept the flames at bay," says Cohen. "We are deeply appreciative for the extraordinary efforts of these first responders."
"This gift is among the most generous we've received from the winery community in Napa Valley, and it will enable us to continue to help those who've been affected by the devastating fires of last month," comments Napa Valley Community Foundation President Terence P. Mulligan. "We are immensely grateful to Lede Family Wines for their support."
