R&J Public Relations Wins GOLD Award for Total Public Relations Program In 24th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards

(June 13, 2007) – R&J Public Relations recently took home a GOLD Award at this year’s Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards hosted by Healthcare Marketing Report. The award was presented to R&J Public Relations in the category of “Total Public Relations Program” which the agency conducted on behalf of Good Samaritan Hospital. Judging was performed by a national committee of professionals from within the healthcare marketing industry.

The agency received the award and recognition for its efforts to assist Good Samaritan Hospital of Suffern, N.Y. achieve approval from the New York State Department of Health for opening a much-needed cardiac surgical center, despite intense political opposition from Manhattan-based hospitals. The agency was able to successfully convince the general public, business, political and civic leaders that Rockland, Orange and Sullivan counties of New York experienced a higher-than-average incidence of cardiovascular disease, thereby establishing a community health imperative for the opening of Good Samaritan’s cardiac center. The campaign’s success, despite difficult and well-funded opposition, has since resulted in the opening of Good Samaritan Hospital’s Cardiac Center, which in 2006 and 2007 has helped save hundreds of lives.
The Healthcare Advertising Awards is the oldest, largest and most widely respected healthcare advertising awards competition.
